Vincent Coker Obituary

Vincent DeWayne Coker, 67, of Diamond, Missouri, passed away on October 3, 2025. He was born on April 19, 1958, in Monett, Missouri, to Frank Coker and Ella Mae Shoemaker.

Vincent earned his GED and went on to graduate third in his class from the Electric Institute. He married the love of his life, Judy James, in May of 1981 in Aurora, Missouri. She survives, along with the family they built together.

For 30 years, Vincent worked as a tree trimmer for City Power and Light in Independence, Missouri. Outside of work, he lived life with grit and heart-riding his Harley, training horses, hosting bull buckouts, and enjoying time in the woods hunting. Above all, he cherished being "Papa" to his grandchildren, a role he embraced with pride and joy.

Vincent had a generous spirit and a strong faith, often opening his home to be a witness and source of strength for others. He was always there when people needed him-a loyal husband, father, friend, and brother.

He is survived by his wife, Judy; his children: Shawn (Anna) Coker of Sherman, TX; Rachel (David) Lafferty of Neosho, MO; Kristi Coker of Diamond, MO; and Connor (Brianna) Coker of Chelsea, OK. He was a proud grandfather to eight grandchildren-with one more expected in April 2026-and great-grandfather to two, with twin great-granddaughters expected in December 2025.

Also surviving are his sisters Christina (Sonny) Bailey of Clinton, MO, and Brenda Sanders of Aurora, CO; and Johnathan Anderson and Jason Benjamin.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Johnny, Lanata, Larry, and Katy.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Clark Funeral Home, Chapel of Memories. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at 180 Church in Joplin, Missouri, with burial to follow at Diamond Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the 180 Youth Group, c/o Clark Funeral Home, P.O. Box 66, Neosho, MO 64850.

Services are under the personal care and direction of Clark Funeral Homes.
