Vincent Stewart Schell, born on September 1, 1998, in Louisville, Kentucky, departed this world on October 28, 2025, at home, enveloped in the love of his family and the comfort of his beloved bug his favorite stuffed critter. He was a light in the lives of many, with a radiant smile and a personality that warmed the hearts of those around him.
The son of William Schell and Maureen O'Mary, Vincent grew up surrounded by the laughter of his family and the vibrant joys of life. His siblings, Amber Higgins (Teddy), Amanda Fahey (Jonathan), and Brenna England Perez (Vicente), cherished their time with him and hold countless memories that will forever warm their hearts. The family often gathered, and it was during such moments that Vincent shone the brightest. His sister Amber fondly recalls a Derby Week at their grandmother's home, where Vincent, in an unexpected burst of joy, leaped onto the couch, landing between his sisters Amber and Brenna, creating a delightful memory that reflected his playful spirit.
Vincent’s sense of humor was infectious, bringing laughter to everyday moments. One particularly joyous night, he and his father found themselves caught in a fit of laughter after a classic mishap. As his father played the piano, Vincent, in a moment of classic mischief, pulled the cover over the keys, prompting his father to chuckle, "Everybody's a critic." These simple, yet cherished memories symbolize the essence of Vincent—a boy who could find joy in the ordinary and humor in the little things, like breaking wind before bed that turned into uncontrollable laughter shared between him and his dad.
With a tall, handsome stature complemented by a beard that garnered admiration, Vincent's easy-going spirit and ready smile made him a beloved friend to many. His presence was a reminder of the beauty of companionship; he had a remarkable ability to draw people in, sharing moments of eye connection that fostered warmth and understanding. He was happiest when surrounded by family and friends, simply enjoying their company.
Vincent’s interests were wide-ranging, from vibrant art—drawings, collages, and paintings—that filled his mind with creativity, to the thrill of water activities at water parks, alongside creek sides, and at the pool at The Y. He delighted in the fun of swinging, bringing joy to his life and the lives of those fortunate enough to share his enthusiasm.
Vincent’s education journey led him through Field Elementary, Westport Middle School, and finally to the Bluegrass Center for Autism, where he embraced learning and connection. He celebrated each holiday by prompting his family with images of pumpkins on Halloween, Christmas trees, St. Patrick’s Day, Derby Day, and the 4th of July, spreading cheer and making every occasion feel special with festive hats. His mom remembers on a Thanksgiving during the hustle and bustle of out-of-town family gathering, she noticed Vincent sitting on the couch listening to a Barney song, Me and My Family. She also remembers Vincent's out of town uncle leaving the house and Vincent watched his car go down the street, he wanted him to come back.
As his days drew to a close, the bond with his father remained unbreakable. In a moment filled with both struggle and care, as his dad assisted him back to bed, Vincent offered an exclamation of relief, "Thank God!" This moment captured not only Vincent’s humorous spirit but also the profound love that enveloped him until his last breath.
Vincent is survived by his devoted parents, William Schell and Maureen O'Mary, and his siblings, Amber Higgins (Teddy), Amanda Fahey (Jonathan), and Brenna England Perez (Vicente). He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and art for his nieces and nephews, Rebekah, Teddy III, Pryce, Preston, Danny, Christopher, Nolan, Emma, Jake, Melissa, Vicente Jr., and Anthony, who will carry his spirit forward in their hearts.
Vincent Stewart Schell will be remembered not just for the years he graced this earth but for the joy he brought to those around him. The warmth of his laughter, the spark in his eyes, and the love he shared will forever live on in the hearts of his family and friends. His passing leaves a profound void, yet his spirit encourages us to find joy in our shared moments, and the beauty encapsulated in a smile. A visitation will be held from 2:00 pm to 6:30 pm on November 7, 2025, at Newcomer Funeral Home, East Louisville (235 Juneau Drive).
