It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of our resident Vincent Wickes on December 14, 2024. Vinny and his wife Donna have been residents of Brookstone for over ten years.
Vinny was born in "The" Bronx, NY. He was 77 years young and lived a very active life. He loved traveling, gardening, shopping and spending time with family and friends. On Monday, December 9th, Vinny suffered an arterial hemorrhage causing him to become incapacitated. On Saturday, December 14th he passed away surrounded by his wife, children and family members.
Vinny was a Vietnam Veteran who received two Purple Hearts. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from the University of Florida. He served on the Executive Counsel of the Boy Scouts of America and was an Eagle Scout. Vinny spent a majority of his career in the temporary staffing service industry and ended his career running the Northeast Region of the Peace Corps. He was a loving husband to Donna and a wonderful father to his daughter Jennifer and son Joseph. He was a kind, funny, generous man who was a friend to all. Anyone that knew Vinny will never forget him or his jokes.
Vinny is survived by his wife Donna Wickes, his daughter Jennifer Friaglia, his son Joseph Wickes and their spouses, his grandchildren Lexy, Kayla and Bobby Jr., his sister Jeanne Wickes and brothers Dennis and Robert Wickes.
A future celebration of life will be announced when arrangements are made. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.

I´m saddened to hear of Vinny´s passing. Robert and I spent many hours with his family. He was something of a hero to Robert, as he was so good to Rob throughout his difficult life at home. May Vinny AND Robert rest in peace. Memory eternal.

I remember meeting Vinny during an informational interview in the New York City office for Peace Corps. I was so nervous...at first. But those fears were replaced with familial trust. It´s as if I were talking to an uncle figure who saw my aptitude to do good work. I immediately knew I not only wanted to work for him but I also wanted to do the best job I that I could. And here I am 15 years later still serving my country as a federal employee. All that started when Vinny gave me a chance and I´ll forever be grateful for the opportunity.

Mrs. Donna wicks,
I am so sorry for your loss. Vinny was a wonderful, caring, and kind soul. My dad suffered a stroke in January of this year and he would always check in with me and ask how he is doing. I am eternally grateful for him taking the time to think of my dad. I am so sorry for your loss, Mr Vinny will always be in my heart.
Sincerely,
Renee´
