Vinson Simpson

Vinson Simpson, 87, of Rogersville, left this world to be united with his Lord and savior the morning of March 5th. He died peacefully at home with his family by his side.

Vinson was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Lou Simpson; his wife of 43 years, Evelyn Simpson; daughter, Betty Simpson Geel; stepdaughter, Linda Trent Simpson; son, Gary Simpson; stepson, David Trent; grandson, Allen Simpson; great grandson, Ryker Taylor; 3 brothers, Floyd, Delmer, and JT Simpson; one sister, Lois Salyers; many other family members too numerous to name.

He is survived by his daughter, Theresa (Don) Byrd; 3 stepsons, Gale (Jane), Danny, and Jamie (Shannon) Trent; devoted granddaughter and caretaker, Cheyenne Edwards; granddaughter, Kelli (Dalton Rogers) Byrd; grandson, Logan (Brittani) Taylor; 4 step grandchildren, Carlie, Catie, Tyler, and Jakob Trent; 2 great grandsons, Jace Sims and Creed Taylor; several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Amedisys Hospice team, as well as a very special thank you to the friends who called and visited frequently: Jewell Cordell, Marjorie Mowell, Larry Manis, Kermit McCracken, Charles Benton, and Myrlie Cradic.

Graveside service will be held on Monday, March 9, 2026 at 2:00 pm at the Mowell Cemetery led by Larry Manis. Anyone who wishes to attend the service is asked to meet at the cemetery by 1:45 pm.
