Maxine Christy, age 88, of Amanda, passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2025, at Altercare Lanfair in Lancaster surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 19, 1936, in Colfax to John and Doris (Primmer) Bobbitt. She was a graduate of Rushville High School, class of 1954. For many years, she operated the kitchen at Producers Livestock Association. She enjoyed camping, playing cards, and attending her children's and grandchildren's sporting events.
She is survived by her children, Sue (Jeff) Kilbarger, of Hardeeville, SC, Brad (Janet) Christy, of Amanda and Cheryl Thaxton, of Lancaster; five grandchildren, Megan Christy, Eric (Haley) Christy, Lauren (Scott) Branchick, Cara (Noah Lutz) Thaxton, and Dylan (Natalie Price) Thaxton; four great grandchildren, Avery, Luke, and Zane Christy, and Owen Branchick; brothers, John, Joe, and Carl (Helen) Bobbitt, Donald (Jackie) and George (Lynda) Nunley; sisters, Mary Kingery and Pauline (Larry) Smith; special niece, Krista Humphries, and several other nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles; parents; siblings, Charles Primmer, Charlene Burnside, Ruby Cottrill, and infant Ronald Nunley.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 17, 2025, at Taylor-Theller Funeral Home, Amanda. Interment will follow at Amanda Township Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Friends may make memorial contributions to the Clearcreek Twp. Fire and EMS or any other charity of the donor's choosing.
