Toddy was born and raised in Pelkie. She was a graduate of Baraga High School and Northwestern University and later received her Master's degree in Education at The National College of Education. After college she moved to California and taught there for several years. Then she moved to the north shore and taught reading at Springman Junior High in Glenview for many years. After her retirement she continued to substitute teach in the area.
Toddy was a long time member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Glenview. She was a kind, curious and compassionate person who brought warmth to all who knew her. She loved her family and friends. Toddy had a passion for the simple pleasures in life. She enjoyed going to the theater, driving her car, dining out, and always embraced the joy of good company. Toddy cheered for the Chicago Bears, Chicago Cubs, and Northwestern Wildcats. Her smile and laugh will be dearly missed.
Private services will be held. In lieu, of flowers, memorials may be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 2328 Central Rd., Glenview, IL 60025.

Miss Ruona was my homeroom teacher at Springman Jr. High. At that time it was called Glenview Jr. High. I always used my pencils to drum on my desk. She finally had to give me a pencil when I got to her class so I wouldn't have two to drum with. I remember her giving me a look when I started to do my pencil thing. All these years later, I DO play drums and very well. I have many fond memories of Miss Ruona and often wondered about her. I am so sorry to hear of her passing and wish I could have seen her again to revisit those times. It would have been such a pleasure to see her again. My sincerest condolences for your loss.
