Viola Schrock Spence, 84, of Linden, graduated to glory on June 8, 2022.
Viola was born to the late Noah and Emma Miller Schrock on May 14, 1938 in Franklin County, Ohio. Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Mary Ann Herschberger, Lena Jackson, Polly Garner, Katy Rouse, Pete Schrock, Jonas Schrock, and Levi Schrock.
Viola is survived by her loving family, two sons, Carl (Donna) Craft, and Walter (Elizabeth) Craft; daughter, Miriam Miller; grandchildren, Caitie (Kelsey) Craft, Mary Craft, Jenna (Mike) Kelsey, Luke Craft, James Craft, and Eliza Jane Craft; sister, Emma Shetler; and many nieces and nephews.
In the early 1960's Viola moved to Southern California where she met and married Carl Craft, Jr. During that time, she worked as a nursing assistant in Chinatown. Soon thereafter, her son's, Carl and Walter were born. After her divorce from Carl she became a registered central service technician working at Lancaster Community Hospital. While raising her 2 boys, she also enjoyed being a member of the local chapter of the Eagles Aerie where she eventually became president. She was also a member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority. After she retired, she moved back to Ohio to be near her family and friends. She held various jobs, but her main stay was filling vending machines and being a driver for the Amish community. She came to live in North Carolina in 2016 after she was diagnosed with dementia. She was a faithful attendant of Gourd Springs Baptist Church in Spring Lake.
There will be a celebration of her life on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at Gourd Springs Baptist Church at 2:00 PM.
