Violet was born in Charleston, NY, 9 April 1932, daughter of Mary Violet Edwards and Ernest Bromling Dake. She graduated from Fonda High School in 1949 and attended Hope College in Holland Michigan, 1949-51, where she majored in Music. Violet married her high school sweetheart, Peter Fallone, 12 December 1952. She was appointed Village Clerk in 1958 and later became a village trustee, serving 22 years, eight of which she served as Deputy Mayor. She was the first female trustee to be appointed to that position, and was later elected to many terms.
From 1970 to 1984 Violet served as Assistant Montgomery County Historian. She was appointed Montgomery County Historian in 1984 and served until she retired in 1991. In that position, she served as chairlady of several celebrations and commemorations: the 50th Anniversary Celebration of the Montgomery County Department of History and Archives in 1984; 150th Anniversary of the Old Courthouse; 200th Anniversary of the Constitution; Secretary for the 200th Anniversary Celebration of Montgomery County; and, Architectural Heritage Year, NYS. She received grants to support these events and with the assistance of staff members, was responsible for the planning of them. Violet had six sugar maple trees and the Montgomery County Tree planted on the Old Courthouse Park Lawn West, and a monument commemorating the men who ratified the constitution in Poughkeepsie. She also raised funds to place four permanent signs welcoming visitors to the four entrances to the Village of Fonda. During her service, Montgomery County was one of 8 of 62 counties in New York state to be honored with an award from the New York State Archives!
Violet was a member of several historical societies: Heritage and Genealogical Society, Montgomery County; Historical Societies of Montgomery County, Charleston, Palatine, Mohawk Valley, and many others; she was also the founding member of many of these historical societies. She was also a member of the Amsterdam Business and Professional Women's Organization, where she was honored in 1987 as "Woman of the Year" for her tremendous contributions to her work and community.
In retirement, Violet had her own business, "Sources Unlimited", for many years as she truly enjoyed family research. She loved traveling locally and in Europe, but especially enjoyed the "Seniors" trips with the Glen-Mohawk Seniors. She loved visiting with friends and photography was her hobby.
