Virgie Luan Phillips

Virgie L. Phillips, "Luan" 76 of Rushville, IL passed away Thursday, November 20, 2025, at Beardstown Health and Rehab Center. She was born October 2, 1949, in Schuyler County, Illinois the daughter of late Clinton Eckroy and Maxine Ambrosius Eckroy Alvarez. She married Richard Phillips, on August 7, 1998, in Rushville, IL. He survives along with her children; Lori Thompson (Mark), Bryan Horsch (Micki), Julie Davis (Tom), and Lynde France (Nick); (13) grandchildren; (10) great grand children (1) brother, Bill Eckroy (Kathy); and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clinton Eckroy and Maxine and Tony Alvarez; her (6) siblings Don Eckroy, Gracie Eckroy, Rita Downs, Sherry Leverton, Jean Eckroy and James Eckroy;(1) niece, Marla Leverton; (2) nephews, Jeff Downs and Mitch Downs; 1 great granddaughter, Anna Bowles; and 2 Bowles Greatgrandchildren in infancy. Luan was the Director of Community Relations at Sarah D Culbertson Memorial Hospital for many years. She was Past President of the Board of the Rushville Library and was instrumental in the development of the new library by writing the grant that funded its construction. She loved country music, especially Alan Jackson, reading, writing, gardening, making bread, dancing, and dogs. She loved to travel especially to Ireland. Her favorite thing was rocking her grandbabies. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, November 25th at 10:00 am at the Worthington Funeral Home with Rev. Dan Wise officiating. Interment will follow at the Rushville City Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. Memorials may be given to the Schuyler County Humane Society or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
