It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Virgil E. Bratcher, a beloved resident of Dade City, Florida, who left us peacefully on Sunday, July 6th, 2025, at the age of 87. Virgil was born on Wednesday, March 9th, 1938, in Brooksville, Florida, to parents Ethel and Charlie Bratcher, and lived a life marked by dedication, love, and service.
Virgil's career as a driver spanned 50 years, during which he became known for his unwavering work ethic and commitment. He also served briefly in the Navy, contributing to his country with honor.
He was a devoted family man, survived by his cherished children: Nancy Russell (Prezzie Calvin Russell III), Pamela Luna, Ruth Stewart (Franklin Stewart), and Patricia Castle. His legacy includes a large and loving family of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His grandchildren include Raul Sanchez, Tiffany Synychak (Greg Synychak), Neal Sanchez (Tuesday Sanchez), Victoria Ramira, Laura Sanchez (Gloria Sanchez), Ashley Bryant (Adam Bryant), Chelsea Parish (Simone Yebba), Shelby Castle, Zachary Castle (Brenna Castle), and Jimmy Luna (Tiffany Smith). Virgil's great-grandchildren, Chloe Ellis, Cruz Sanchez, Mark Sanchez, ES Ellis, Elena Sanchez, Kara Lynn Synychak, Amberly Synychak, Nicholas Sanchez, Finnley Beath, Colston Parish, Corbin Parish, Kyson Sanchez, Piper Russell, Paige Russell, Landon Castle, Blakley Luna, Preston Castle, Kingston Castle, and Hunter Luna, will carry forward his memory.
Family, friends, and those whose lives were touched by Virgil are invited to attend a visitation at Hodges Family Funeral Home on Thursday, July 10th, 2025, from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm, followed by a funeral service at 4:00 pm at the same location.
Virgil's life was a testament to kindness, resilience, and dedication. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and his memory will forever remain in the hearts of those he loved. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Virgil, please visit our floral store.
