Virgil Gayle Businelle Sr., 71, passed away on September 21, 2024, while residing at Universal Health Care in Greenville, NC. He was born on June 4, 1953, to the late David and Grace Businelle in Morgan City, LA.
Virgil grew up in southern Louisiana and later served in the U.S. Army. While stationed in the Netherlands, he met his beloved wife, Pamela, with whom he had two children.
A true outdoorsman, Virgil had a deep love for nature, especially being on the water. His career allowed him to spend many days watching the Mississippi River from the deck of the Janie Charlie tugboat. In his free time, he could often be found fishing or cooking, with Cajun cuisine being his specialty.
He is survived by his children, Virgil "Sonny" Businelle Jr. and wife Lori, and Cynthia Foreman and husband Marcus; grandchildren Dylan Landry, Reese Businelle, and Matthew Foreman; his sister Patricia Leblanc; brother Glen Businelle; and many nieces and nephews.
Virgil was preceded in death by his wife Pamela, his parents David and Grace, three sisters-Constance DelCambre, Linda Mullally, and Earline Kleimann-and seven brothers-Peter, Ward, David, Marvin, Earl, Patrick, and Rick Businelle.
A private gathering of close family and friends will take place on December 13, 2024, to fulfill Virgil's final wish of having his ashes spread in a location dear to him, honoring his lifelong connection to the Mississippi River.
