Virgil Dennis "Dink" Duncan, of Mountain Rest, passed away peacefully at the Cottingham Hospice House on October 20, 2025.
A native of Oconee County, Dink retired from Oconee State Park as supervisor of maintenance and the water treatment facility. He was a member of Mountain Rest Baptist Church, a US Army Veteran, member of the Blue Ridge Masonic Lodge #92, the former president of Mountain Rest Community Club, and a member of Trout Unlimited.
Dink was an avid outdoorsman, and fisherman. He enjoyed making fly rods for his family, friends, and the RA boys at his church, where he also gave lessons on fly fishing. His other hobbies included hiking, painting, woodworking, fly tying, and spending time with his family.
Dink is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Iris Duncan and by daughters: Denise Pearson (Mike), and Debbie Fulmer (Bobby). He was the loving "Papa" to four grandchildren: Jessica Lee (Stacy), Duncan Foy (Holly), Erin Eason (Jason), and Sullivan Foy (Bailee Conner). He was blessed to spend a lot of time and love with his four great-grandchildren: Sarah Pearson, Brandon Eason, Zach Eason, and Chase Eason. He is also survived by two of his closest friends: George Hanvey, and Harold Gibson.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Virgil and Viola Guinn Duncan; his sisters: Annette Leroy, and Martha Prater; and his brother: Don Duncan.
The family would like to thank the wonderful team at the Cottingham Hospice House. Thank you all for helping us through this difficult time. We were very blessed with an incredible team of nurses and Dr. Meyers.
A visitation will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025 at 3:00 PM-4:00 PM at Davenport Funeral Home with a memorial service to follow in the Chapel at 4:00 PM. There will be a private burial at a later date.
Flowers are welcome and/or donations may be made in memory of Dennis "Dink" Duncan to Prisma Health Hospice of the Foothills, Attn: Foundation Office 298 Memorial Dr., Seneca, SC, 29672.
