Virgil Pepper, age 80, of Colorado Springs, CO, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2025. He was born on September 1, 1945, in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, to the late Johnny and Mamie Braxton Pepper.
A proud veteran, Virgil honorably served his country for six years in the U.S. Army.
To all who knew him, Virgil-or "VP" as he was affectionately called-was a source of warmth and laughter. He was genuinely the life of every gathering, known for a generous spirit that moved him to always help those in need. He carried an immense capacity for love, dedicating his whole heart to his family and friends, and was deeply and truly loved in return.
Virgil embraced life with enthusiasm, enjoying the quiet contemplation of fishing and golfing. He also loved hunting and playing dominoes and spades with friends. A true music enthusiast, he especially loved oldies, R&B, and slow music, which he often shared during drives with loved ones in his vans.
The cornerstone of Virgil's life was his family, centered around his devoted wife of 57 years, Fannie Hopper. He was a good and constant presence as a husband, father, and family man, and his memory will be a lasting comfort to those he leaves behind.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Fannie, and their children: David Hopper, Virgil (Amaya) Hopper, Roxsala Hopper, Christopher Hopper, Jamil Hopper, Jerrard (Minnie) Hopper, and Trevon Williams. He is also survived by his sisters, Edith Williams and Doreatha (Donnell) Cotton, along with a host of other loving relatives and dear friends.
Virgil is preceded in death by his parents and several siblings: brothers Jesse Jones, William Radford, and Harry Radford; and sisters Jodie Pepper, Mary Radford, Margaret Greene, and Lucy Grice.
We find comfort knowing he has been reunited with those cherished friends and family who passed before him.
Virgil's kindness and unforgettable presence will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
