Virginia L. Alyea, 87, of West Lafayette, IN was welcomed to her heavenly home on Monday, January 26 th, 2026. She was born May 2 nd, 1938, at Portsmouth Naval Hospital, Portsmouth, Virginia to Lester O. Robertson of Elmwood, NE and Edna M. (Caddy) Robertson, of Eagle, NE. Ginny was a Navy brat during WWII and the Korean conflict. She attended multiple schools, including six different high schools, along the California coast and in Eagle, NE while her father was at sea. Following graduation from Hayward high school in 1955, she moved with her family to Indianapolis, IN.

After a short marriage, Virginia raised her two boys in Indianapolis with the help of her mother. Virginia retired following 31 years of service. Her duty stations included Indianapolis Center (IND), FAA Academy (OKC), Purdue University Airport tower (LAF), Terre Haute Regional tower (HUF), and Kankakee Flight Service Station (IKK).

She was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, most recently at St. James Evangelical Lutheran church in Lafayette, IN. Virginia became a member of the General de Lafayette Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, serving as its chaplain. She enjoyed researching her family genealogy, as well as aiding others with their searches. Virginia remained an avid reader of books until her final days.
