Virginia Ann (Daly) Bierschenk, born on October 1, 1953, in Brooklyn, NY, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2024, in Wilmington, NC, at the age of 71. A beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend, she impacted the lives of many. Ginny's red hair and Irish pride connected her with many people throughout her life.
Ginny had a long and complicated battle with multiple myeloma for 8 years but complications from that disease ultimately took her life - she fought to the very end. Her dedicated husband Allan was at Ginny's side every step of the way, holding her hand as she passed. They were married for 48 years.
Ginny lived most of her life in Long Island, NY and was a graduate of Central High School in Valley Stream, NY. She loved going to the beach and the city where she enjoyed going to concerts, Broadway plays and volunteering for the Red Cross. She dedicated 20+ years of her professional life as a Medical Administrative Assistant at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, where she was known for her dedication and compassion.
After retiring in 2015, Ginny and her husband, Al, moved from West Hempstead, NY to Brunswick Forest in Leland, NC in 2016. This move allowed them to enjoy the beautiful beaches of North Carolina, a place that brought Virginia much joy and tranquility. She found great pleasure in going to live music at the park, gardening and playing Mahjong with her neighbors. She also cherished visits with her kids and grandchildren.
A member of the Basilica Shrine of St. Mary in Wilmington, NC, and St. Thomas the Apostle Church in West Hempstead, NY, Ginny's faith was an integral part of her life, providing her with strength and solace throughout her years.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Daly and Virginia Bell Daly. She leaves behind a loving family including her husband, Allan Bierschenk; her son Kevin Bierschenk and her daughter Diana Eddowes along with their spouses Amanda Bierschenk and Paul Eddowes; and her precious grandchildren Madeline, Jack, and Luke Bierschenk, and Alex and Rowan Eddowes. She is also survived by her five brothers, Robert Daly, Gerard Daly, Joseph Daly, Lawrence Daly, and Michael Daly, along with extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, November 3, 2024 from 3-5 pm at the Wilmington Funeral Chapel, offering an opportunity to celebrate Virginia's life and legacy. A Catholic service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, November 4, 2024, at The Basilica Shrine of St. Mary, located at 412 Ann St. in Wilmington, NC. Ginny's strength, resilience, kindness, and love will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.

While flowers are appreciative the family is recommending donations to International Myeloma Foundation in which they share a vision with Ginny to achieve "A world where every myeloma patient can live life the fullest, unburdened by the disease".
