Barbara Louise “Sissy” Bierschenk, 83, of Weatherford, Texas, peacefully passed away on August 27, 2025, in her home in Weatherford, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at St. Stephen Catholic Chapel (211 South Main Street, Weatherford) on Friday, August 29, 2025. Rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m., followed by Mass with Reverend Stephen Bierschenk officiating. Burial will follow at Willow Springs Cemetery in Willow Park/Hudson Oaks, Texas.
Barbara was born in Weatherford, Texas, to Louis William Mikus and Angie Viola Stults, on September 1, 1941. She attended schools in Aledo and graduated in 1959, and married Lawrence Bierschenk later that year. She worked locally at the First National Bank in Weatherford for 20 years. Barbara later worked at General Dynamics and Computer Science Corporation in Fort Worth before retiring. She enjoyed being troop leader for her daughter’s Girl Scout Troop 138, guiding them from second through twelfth grade. Barbara was instrumental to ensure the entire troop achieved the First Class Girl Scout Award as one, and to travel together to the International Girl Scout House in Cuernavaca, Mexico.
She greatly enjoyed cooking and baking, as well as creating embroidery, crochet, and knitting works of art. Barbara treasured her Depression glass, Hummel figurines, and Czech cut glass collections. She was an active member of her Catholic parish, participating in many activities and organizations such as the Altar Society and the renovation of the original St. Stephen parish’s chapel on South Main Street.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Lawrence and daughter, Sharmayne, each of Weatherford Texas, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Sirena; and brothers, Walter “Sonny” Deel and Samuel “Buddy” Deel.
In lieu of flowers and plants, memorial donations are requested to the Pallottine Building Fund (St. Stephen Catholic Church, 1802 Bethel Road, Weatherford, Texas 76086) or to the charity of choice.
