DURHAM: Virginia Stephenson Clegg, 91, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 18, 2022 at her home. She was born in Rockford, Ohio to the late Robert Stephenson and Alma Bollenbacher Stephenson. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Clegg was also predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Maurice L. Clegg; brothers, Richard Stephenson, Charles Stephenson and Marlin Stephenson; son-in-law, Craig Richardson; and Tom Dardugno.
Mrs. Clegg retired from Duke Medical Center as an Administrative Secretary. She was a member of Braggtown Baptist Church and the Fidelis Sunday School class. She enjoyed hosting friends and family, gardening, sewing and loved a rousing game of Scrabble. She loved spending time with her grandchildren more than anything.
Mrs. Clegg is survived by her children, Jennifer Clegg McFarland (Dwight), Robin Clegg Richardson, Stephen Maurice Clegg (Toni Tadlock) and Kelly Clegg Bennett (Chris); grandchildren, Whitney Waldrep (Tony), Haleigh McFarland, Jordan Short (Daniel), Morgan Casto (DJ), Landis Yarovyy (Sergiy), Lauren Bennett, Luke Bennett, Nash Clegg, Cole Clegg; great-grandchildren, Claire Short, baby girl Short, Weller Yarovyy, Brooklyn Waldrep; and brothers, Larry Stephenson and Jerry Stephenson.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, December 28th at Braggtown Baptist Church with Pastor Eric Miller officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 pm in the church sanctuary. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery.
