Virginia Ann Davis age 83, of Lithia Springs, Georgia passed away Thursday, October 30, 2025. She was born in Greenwood, S.C. on September 1, 1942, to the late J. Fred James and Sara Ledbetter James.
Virginia loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling to the mountains in the fall to see the leaves change colors and see the wonders her Lord and Savior created, especially sitting on the porch and watching all the hummingbirds and butterflies. She always enjoyed a good football game especially the Atlanta Falcons or Georgia Bulldogs. Her passion was truly writing, having worked as a freelance writer for many years and having several pieces published in books and magazines. She also enjoyed collecting dolls and fixing them up. Above all of this she loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and loved attending her church Atlanta West Pentecostal Church. Even after becoming bedridden and in hospice she still wanted to go to church, but her and the family are very thankful for the church live streaming the services so she could still feel a part of the services.
She will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing and loving her.
Virginia is survived by her children; Debbie Mercier (Roger), Marla Jones and Lori Hurst (Larry), her grandchildren; Justin Gain, Chad Bray, Sara Barbee, Casey Saunders, Emily Matthews and Alison Gain, 16 great grandchildren, and many other family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Merriman and brother Jerry James.
