Virginia Deason Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Mission Park Funeral Chapels South, Cemeteries & Crematories on Oct. 18, 2025.
Virginia Jane Deason was born on July 19, 1934, and passed away on October 16, 2025, at the age of 91. She is survived by her loving spouse of 70 years Fred Deason; daughters Janis (David) Georg, Jenny (Sam) Flores; son Larry (Deanna) Deason; granddaughters Peggy (Kenneth) Kiser, Katy (Matt) Quigley, Jessica (Curtis) Wallace, Samantha (Matt) Bowman and Gina Silvas; grandson Ryan (Jordan) Georg; great grandchildren Cole, Paxstyn, Reid, Addison, Easton, Bexar, Connor and Layla; sisters Mittie Toalson and Darlene (Eddie) Alsobrook; sisters-in-law Sally Jenkins and Diane Jenkins; numerous nieces and nephews. Virginia is preceded in death by her parents, Henry Lloyd, and Lee Ola (Smart) Jenkins; sisters Ann Knox and Sue Jenkins, brothers Buddy Jenkins, Earl Jenkins, Bill Jenkins, H.L.Jenkins and David Jenkins.
Virginia was eldest of ten children; five girls and five boys. She grew up in a very loving family; each one always ready to help out the others. Family gatherings were also a part of her life. Sunday gatherings in Pleasanton where her mother lived after the early death of her father always were large due to those of her siblings who lived close. Virginia was a homemaker for many years until her youngest daughter, Jenny, was in junior high school. She then became a telephone operator for AT&T. Fred retired from Western Electric Company and eventually they bought some land and raised some cattle and hay.
Summers were spent in Port Aransas at their Beach House. The house was wall to wall people sleeping in beds and on pallets on the floor as the grandkids started arriving. Days were spent at the beach, enjoying the sand and surf. Time spent looking for all kinds of seashells and sand dollars to save. There are many jars of shells scattered around the house.
Virginia and Fred were devout Longhorn fans despite the fact that no one from the family attended The University of Texas. After her grandchildren grew up and started choosing the college they wanted to attend; a friendly rivalry soon began when 4 of her 6 grandchildren graduated from Texas A&M University System Schools. They may not have always liked wearing maroon but wore it proudly when three of the grandchildren received their Aggie Rings and received their diplomas. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were the light of her life. She always looked forward to seeing all of them as often as she could.
