Virginia Louise Fadden (née Broe), age 92, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 30th, 2025 in Naperville, Illinois, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on April 11, 1933, Virginia grew up in the Mount Greenwood neighborhood of Chicago. Family was the heart of Virginia's life from the very beginning and for much of her life lived surrounded by family. She was fortunate that her beloved sister, Mary June Griffin, brother-in-law Vernon Griffin, and her four nephews lived next door.
Virginia shared 49 devoted years of marriage with her husband, Gerald Fadden, who proceeded her in death in 2004. The couple raised three children: Edward Fadden (Deborah), Marjorie Kubacki (Lawrence), and Mark Fadden. Her love and pride extended to her grandchildren-Michael Fadden, Mary Katherine Buddingh (Seth), Ryan Fadden, and Dylan Fadden, and her great-grandson, Evan Fadden. At the time of her death, she was awaiting the birth of her second great grandson. Theodore Buddingh. She also leaves behind a large and loving extended family, including 16 nieces and nephews who cherished her presence and guidance.
Virginia's life was marked by grace, devotion, and quiet strength. At age 40, she, Gerald and family began a journey that took them to live in many places across the country-including Ohio, California, Georgia, and Texas. In 1999, she and her husband Gerald moved back to Illinois settling in the Carillon community in Plainfield where they continued to spend joyful years together. The couple were active in the Saint Mary Immaculate parish and served as Eucharistic ministers. They also served as volunteers at Edward Hospital.
Virginia's greatest joy came from creating a strong, loving family. She made holidays and family gatherings truly special, building lasting traditions and memories that will be treasured by generations. She was a steady, faith-filled presence in the lives of those she loved, offering quiet wisdom, compassion, and unwavering support.
Throughout her life, Virginia held fast to her Roman Catholic faith, drawing strength and peace from her deep belief in God. Her legacy is one of love, kindness, and faith. Virginia will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Visitation will be Monday, June 9, 9:00-10:00 AM at the Overman-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, corner of Routes 30 & 59, Plainfield. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM at St. Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, 15629 S. Route 59, Plainfield. Interment will follow at St. Mary Immaculate Cemetery, Plainfield.
