Virginia Cognato Gaumond was born June 17, 1933, in Hammond, LA, to the late Anthony and Rose Varisco Cognato. She passed away January 5, 2025, at her residence in Hoover, Alabama at the age of 91. Virginia was raised in Hammond and was a graduate of Hammond High School and attended Southeastern Louisiana University. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Harvey Gaumond; son, David Gaumond (Melanie); daughter, Julie Gaumond; grandchildren, Katherine LeJeune (Matthew), Gregory Gaumond (Mallory); great granddaughter, Elizabeth LeJeune; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by three sisters and a brother. Visitation will be held at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 600 North Oak Street, Hammond, Saturday, January 11, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 p.m. Entombment will follow in Rose Mausoleum, Hammond.
