Virginia "Ginny" Grinstead, 85, passed away on September 8, 2025, in Glenview, Illinois.

Ginny was born on July 6, 1940 in Seymour, Indiana, the daughter of Stuart Shields Blish and Evelyn Roberts Blish. She grew up in Indianapolis, and pursued higher education, earning an Associate of Arts degree from Pine Manor College before completing her Bachelor of Arts at Indiana University in 1962.

After college, Ginny built a long and successful career as a residential realtor on Chicago's North Shore, a career that brought her joy and flexibility while raising her son, Wayde. Known for her engaging personality and ever-present smile, she brought both charm and expertise to every interaction.

Outside of work, Ginny embraced life with enthusiasm. She enjoyed travel, with her son and with friends. She was an avid tennis player and golfer who also enjoyed exercise class, yoga, riding bikes, and playing bridge. Her social nature made her a beloved presence in every circle she joined-always ready with a quick wit or a warm laugh that lifted the spirits of those around her.

Ginny is survived by her son, Wayde Grinstead (Lauren); her brother Evan Blish and his wife Jackie; nieces Heather Strasser (Andy) and Stacey Poynter (Ezra); nephews Tipton Blish (Bridget), Scott Blish, and Devin Blish. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Tipton Blish.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00am on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at Christ Church Winnetka, 784 Sheridan Road, Winnetka, IL. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Open Books Chicago (www.open-books.org)
