Virginia C. Hamilton

1946 - 2025

Virginia C. Hamilton, born in Alexandria, VA on October 22, 1946, died peacefully on December 26, 2025, at age 79 surrounded by loved ones. She was the oldest of six children.

Virginia was the beloved wife of Rev. Allen L. Hamilton, cherished mother of Kim Moncion, Cindy K. Gould, and Amanda K. Hamilton, stepmother to Kimberly Waters (Jason), proud grandmother of Chelsea Gould, Rachelle Moncion, Aurora Hamilton, and Autumn Barnhill. A great-grandmother of Amelia and Carmen Wilson and Elaina Gould.

Virginia was a dedicated civil servant through the federal government in the eighties, she worked for the Secret Service and gave two decades to veterans at the VA hospital before retiring in 2010. She was an active member of the Augusta Lynx Booster Club for over five years, during which she served as secretary and membership coordinator. She never forgot a birthday, never said no to a greyhound, loved music more than words, and loved us-more than that.

Virginia is preceded in death by her husband, Allen L. Hamilton, her mother, Edith Monson, her father, Earl Monson, and her sister, Anita "Nita" Monson.

She is survived by her daughters, Kim Moncion (Barry Hancock), Cindy K. Gould, and Amanda K. Hamilton, sisters, Patricia "Trish" Monson Franks (John), Melinda Monson Linderman (John), brothers, Steve Monson and Chris Monson (Sarah), grandchildren, Chelsea Gould, Rachelle Moncion, Aurora Hamilton, and Autumn Barnhill, and great-grandchildren, Amelia Wilson, Carman Wilson, and Elaina Gould.

The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 AM Wednesday, January 7, 2026 at Platt's Funeral Home on Belair Road in Evans, Georgia. The funeral service will follow visitation at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Dearing Methodist Church Cemetery at 161 Church Street Dearing, Georgia 30808.
