Barbara Ellen Hamilton

Barbara Ellen Hamilton, of Greenwood, Indiana passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2025. She was 85 years old. Ellen was born on October 06, 1940, in Elwood, Indiana to the late William "Mott" John and Florence (Redmond) John.
After graduating from Elwood high school, Ellen attended Ball State University where she earned her bachelor's in education. She went on to earn her master's degree in education. She began her teaching career at Logansport, Indiana. In 1974 she moved to Indianapolis and began teaching at Douglas MacArthur Elementary School in Perry Township where she eventually retired.
Ellen was very active in Young Astronaut's Program which educates young students in the space program across the country. Ellen traveled many places including Nasa at Cape Canaveral, Hawaii, and Washington DC where she met and befriended several political figures. The space program was very important to Ellen and was made obvious by her collection of space memorabilia.
In addition to her parents, Ellen is preceded in death by her son, William "Bill" Hamilton in May of 2016, and her twin sister, Beatrice Hedenskoog.
Ellen is survived by her son, Andrew Hamilton.
