Jacob "Jake" Amos, age 38, of Claypool, left this world on January 7, 2026. He was born on July 9, 1987, to Brian and Jennifer Amos in Kokomo, IN. Jake was a dedicated member of his community, known for his selflessness, loyalty, and unwavering commitment to serving others.

Jake graduated from Elwood High School in 2006, Jake continued his education at Vincennes University, obtaining associate degrees in fire science and paramedicine. He achieved his paramedic license in January 2010, fulfilling his passion for helping others.

Jake’s career as a paramedic, spanning more than sixteen years, was a true testament to his unwavering commitment to serving others. Paramedicine was not just a profession for him—it was a calling rooted in compassion, courage, and a deep sense of responsibility to his community. For ten of those years, Jake served with Lutheran EMS, where he made a lasting impact throughout Kosciusko, Fulton and Marshall Counties. Whether responding to routine calls or life-threatening emergencies, he approached every situation with calm determination, professionalism, and genuine care for the people he served.

Earlier in his career, Jake brought those same traits to Knox County EMS, SEALS EMS, Cares EMS, Life Med EMS, and Fulton County EMS. Across each department, he earned the respect of coworkers and patients alike for his reliability, steady leadership, and willingness to go above and beyond when others needed help. He had a rare ability to bring reassurance in moments of fear and clarity in moments of chaos—qualities that defined him both on and off the clock.

In addition to his work in emergency medical services, Jake devoted many years as a volunteer firefighter with the Burket Fire Department. This role further reflected his selfless nature and readiness to serve whenever the call came in, regardless of the hour or conditions. As a volunteer, he gave his time, energy, and heart without expectation of recognition, driven solely by a desire to protect and support his neighbors.

Together, Jake’s service as a paramedic and volunteer firefighter paints the picture of a man defined by duty, compassion, and integrity. His life’s work stands as a powerful example of what it means to serve others with humility and purpose, leaving a lasting legacy in every community he touched.

Jake enjoyed the simple joys of life. He found happiness in mowing his yard and caring for animals. He enjoyed boating on Beaver Dam Lake and skiing on Big Barbee Lake in his younger years. He was an avid fan of enjoying episodes of "The Office" and "Yellowstone."

Jake's vibrant personality was characterized by his passionate nature, kindness, and protectiveness towards those he loved. He was a loving husband to his wife, Courtney Amos, and a devoted father to his children, Delaney Jensen and Tatum Amos. Jake is also mourned by his parents, Brian (Jennette) Amos of Kokomo and Jennifer Amos of Elwood, and his siblings: Kara (Derrick) Rittenhouse of Virginia, Audrey Gaither of Westfield, and Alec (Bailey) Gaither of Kokomo. He is further survived by his grandmother, Margie Briles, and in-laws, Jim and Sandy Ringer of Plymouth. Along with his bonus dad Todd Anderson of Elwood.

Jake is now reunited with his grandparents, Harley Browning and Gary & Karen Amos. His legacy of service, love, and dedication will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
