Virginia M. Heck, 97, of Bemus Point, died Wednesday July 30, 2025, in Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing.
She was born July 22, 1928, in WCA Hospital. Seven days later she was adopted by Orvin and Ruth Roberts Simmons.
She was a 1946 graduate of Bemus Point Central School. Following graduation, she worked for Jamestown Veneer and Plywood.
In 1948 she married her high school sweetheart, Alvin Heck, and had two daughters Joan Perry now of Bemus Point and Jan Harrington of Flushing, MI. When the girls started school Virginia took a job at Pennsylvania Gas Company, now National Fuel Gas. She worked there for over 20 years until her retirement.
She was a communicant of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Bemus Point where she played the organ and sang in the choir.
In addition to her daughters, she has four grandchildren Shane Perry of Aiken, SC, Chad Harrington of Warren, MI, Lyndsie Cook of Flushing, MI and Jaime (Andrew) Hopko of Grosse Point, MI and seven great grandchildren Ty and Sierra Perry, Carson and Delaney Cook, Ava and Bailey Hopko and Ryker Harrington.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Alvin Heck whom she married May 22, 1948, and who died October 17, 2014.
A Memorial Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at St. Mary of Lourdes Catholic Church in Bemus Point, NY. Rev. Todd Remick will be Celebrant.
Burial will be in Fluvanna Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
