Virginia A. (Pent) Holt, 96, of Ipswich, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 27th. Born in Bryn Mawr, PA, she was the daughter of the late Howard F. Pent, Jr. and Mary M. (Gallagher) Pent, and the beloved wife of the late Peter P. Holt, Sr.
Virginia was known for her passion and creativity in American Folk Art, where she expressed her deep appreciation for color, tradition, and storytelling through her work. She found great joy in painting, reading mysteries, and spending time with family and friends. Her life was also marked by a steadfast devotion to her Catholic faith and active participation in her parish community.
Virginia is survived by her sons, Peter Paul Holt, Jr. of Lowell, MA, and John Ayres Holt of Phoenixville, PA; her grandchildren, Thomas Francis Holt of Bradford, MA, Ainsley MacLaughlin of Burlington, VT, and Ceana MacLaughlin of Portland, OR; and her great-grandchildren, Grant and Reid Holt.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her beloved daughter, Mary Katharine Holt-MacLaughlin.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Hope, 1 Pineswamp Road, Ipswich, on Friday, November 7th at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Cowles Cemetery, Ipswich. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Virginia's memory to Our Lady of Hope. Arrangements by the Campbell Funeral Home, 6 High Street, Ipswich.
