Virginia Key June 18, 1931 ~ July 27, 2025
Virginia Key, 94, Marion, passed away at 12:30 pm on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at Cedar Creek of Marion. She was born in Swayzee, Indiana, on Thursday, June 18, 1931, to Wayne and Bessie (Hofferbert) Petro. Virginia graduated from Swayzee High School and was a member of Maple Run Friends Church. She loved gardening, attending sporting events, as well as going to Bible study and teaching. More than anything, she enjoyed being around her family.
Her family would like to express their gratitude to Cedar Creek and their staff for the care they showed during her time with them.
Survivors include her sons, Barry (Sally) Key of Swayzee and John (Laura) Key of Swayzee; daughter, Debbie (Mike) Hyman of Flora; grandchildren, Chad Key, Cory Key, Chris Key, Sam Key, Abby Strader, Eric Hyman, Andy Hyman, Jana Anderson, Jeff Davis, Joseph Davis, Robert Davis, and Phil Davis; 20 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and sister, Mary Williams.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Bessie Petro; husband, Merrill Wayne Key; daughter, Nancy Davis; and son-in-law, JD.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at Thrailkill Cemetery, 800 E. N. 00 S., Swayzee, IN, with Pastor John Key officiating.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Maple Run Friends Church, 4460 W. 400 S., Marion, IN 46953.
Arrangements are entrusted to Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
