Virginia McIntosh Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by John O. Morris Funeral Home on Mar. 31, 2024.
Virginia Lee Mcintosh, better known as "Shoe Baby", was born on March 11, 1944, in Nassawadox, Virginia. She was born to the late Gladys Custis and Preston Kellam. Virginia departed this life on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at her residence in Hare Valley, Virginia.
Virginia was educated in Northampton County, Virginia. During the early 1970s, she became a licensed hair stylist and was well known in Georgia for the "Jerry curl".
Virginia was the life of the party. She loved to entertain and run the show. For those who knew her, Virginia had no filter. She would tell it like it is even when you didn't want to hear it. Virginia had a big mouth but her heart was just as big.
She helped many and all that she could; her door and purse were always open. Virginia loved talking on the phone with Jeffro with daily calls beginning at 4:00 AM and her last late night call with her surrogate daughter, Yoly.
Although Virginia had no children of her own, she played a major role in raising her nieces and nephews. Her nephews, Darrell, Donnie, Darius, and Damarx, called her daily to ensure her needs were met. She gossiped on the phone with Damalleaux. She entertained her great-nieces and nephews on the phone with their mother, little Margaret, and she spoke of health tactics with, Djannex. Needless to say, Virginia and her sister, Margaret, had an immeasurable bond that could not be broken. Virginia had many relationships with whom she holds dear to her heart. Her cousin, Margie, with whom she always "fought in love," just as she did her niece, Pandora; her "brother-in- love," Outlaw who was always by her side; a very supportive friend, Lawrence; and a special thanks to Lisa, whom she kept on the go; last but not least, her great-nephew, Juju, whom she deeply cared for as her own.
Virginia leaves to cherish: her sisters, Margaret Hinton and Bernadette Green from Philadelphia, a host of nieces and nephews, as well as her great-nieces and nephews. The family would like to acknowledge her caregiver, Tirra Custis, for being with Virginia during her last moments.
