Virginia Mueller Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Steuerle Chapel - Villa Park on May 1, 2023.
Virginia "Ginny" Mueller (formerly Virginia Wright; Virginia Helfers), 77, at rest April 29, 2023. She was born to Clarence and Eunice Wright on November 6, 1945 in Chicago, IL. She is survived by two sisters; Carol (Charles) Huey and Kathy (Rich) Warren. She was predeceased by her brother Tom. Virginia was married to Thomas Helfers of Des Plaines for 18 years. Together they had four children: Cheryl (John) Frey, Mike (Andrea Silver), Diane (Nick) Petrella, and Pete (Joy Stanton). In 1993, she married Jim Mueller of Villa Park, who has five children of his own; Jim (Jill), Debbie (Kelly) McMullan, John, Donna, and Kimberly (Mike) Postawa. Virginia will be remembered as "Grannie" to Christian, Matthew, and Sasha Frey, Max and Mika Helfers, Nicholas, Christopher, Joseph, Emily, and Grace Petrella, Daniel, Nathan, and Timothy Helfers, Keenan, Dayle, and Kate Mueller, and Kellyn and McKenzie McMullan.
Virginia worked at Household International (HFC) where she was a network manager. She loved to bowl, golf, play bridge, bake, play the piano, sew, garden, go garage sailing, and solve puzzles. The work she did on home improvement projects was second to none -- including completely redesigning the floor plan of her condo in Villa Verde. She will be remembered for her lasagna, brownies, chocolate chip cookies, and planning the best Easter egg hunts known to man. She will also be remembered as someone who could make a gourmet meal out of an apple and a bowl of buttery popcorn. When raising her children in Buffalo Grove, she would often be found on the pitcher's mound for The Young and the Restless softball team, at the bowling alley, playing flag football, or leading a parade of kids around the block on roller skates. She was also known to give her kids rides to school on the back of her motorcycle (much to her sons' delight and her daughters' embarrassment!)
