Virginia "Ginny" T. Pike, 93, of Swannanoa, passed away on November 12, 2024, at Emerald Ridge Health and Rehab in Weaverville, NC. Virginia, known to all as Ginny, was loved by all who knew her.
Ginny was born November 12, 1931, in Philadelphia to the late Louis Edward Taubel Jr, MD and Rachel F. Taubel, where she lived for 25 years. She then moved with her family to Miami, FL where she was a nurse at Baptist Hospital and an Ambulatory Center. She loved dogs and kitties. Ginny was an artist and loved to paint, and she volunteered at ABCCM. Needlepoint and hook rugs were her favorite past time. She loved her children and grandchildren, tea parties with Autumn, football and the Atlanta Braves.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Pike, MD; daughters, Cindy Doyle of Elizabethton, TN and Diane Pike of Kendall, FL; and brother, David Taubel, MD of Stuart, FL.
Left to cherish her memories are her sons, Robert E. Pike Jr. (Trish) of Black Mountain, NC and Jon Pike (Fiona) of Grovetown, GA; granddaughters, Laura Edell (James Grigsy), of Mint Hill, NC, Megan Guss (Stephen) of Marietta, GA, and Hannah Pike of West Virginia; great grandsons, Gus Grigsby of Mint Hill, NC, and Jaime Guss of Marietta, GA; special great granddaughter, Autumn Hazelwood (mother, Tara Hazelwood) of Johnson City, TN; and great grandson, Owen McNeely of Johnson City, TN.
A private memorial service will be held by the family at a later date.
At other times, the family will be at the home of Robert and Trish Pike in Black Mountain.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Brother Wolf Animal Rescue, PO Box 8195, Asheville, NC 28814.
