Virginia Ann Pozza, 86, of Springdale, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at the Willard Walker Hospice Home in Fayetteville.
Virginia was born on March 25, 1939, in Rotan, Texas. She was the daughter of H. D. “Pete” Reeves and Tulia Morsani Reeves. She was the widow of the late Felix Pozza, who preceded her in death.
Virginia attended Our Lady of the Lakes College, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Education and Library Science. On November 24, 1962, Virginia and Felix were married and settled in Hermosa Beach, CA where she worked as an elementary teacher. In 1969, they moved back to Tontitown where they owned and operated the Tontitown Mercantile and founded Pozza’s Pasta. Virginia developed the Tontitown Elementary School Library and served as its first librarian. She worked on the Arkansas Governor’s Council for the Aging, organized the first Tontitown Grape Festival Arts & Crafts Fair, and was instrumental in continuing it for several years. She worked as the receptionist for the Springdale High School, and was the District Substitute Teacher Coordinator.
Virginia enjoyed volunteering as the scorekeeper and chaperone for the Springdale High School Lady Bulldogs Basketball team, and was an avid fan of Razorback basketball. In her free time, Virginia enjoyed camping, traveling, and visiting with family, friends and neighbors. The lucky ones were served a plate of Pozza’s Pasta topped with her famous spaghetti sauce, made from her immigrant Italian Nona’s recipe. Virginia was well known for her Tontitown Mercantile employee Christmas parties and the rum punch served there. She was a member of the St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in Springdale.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband Felix, her brother-in-law Ali Ghazi and his son Dan, and her parents Pete and Tulia.
She is survived by three daughters, Cynthia Whitaker and husband H.B. of Springdale, Sheryl Pozza of Midland, Michigan, and Tracy Reed and husband Gary of Springdale; one sister, Margaret Ghazi of Spring, Texas; five grandchildren, Mary Kathryn (Dalton) Huerkamp, Ryne Matthew Whitaker, Kajsa (Manny) Hall, Calob Reed, and Chloe Reed; four great grandchildren, Stefan, Eloise, Ira and Ezekiel.
