CHESTER, MARYLAND - Virginia Eleanor "Ginny" Proctor, age 72, passed away
peacefully on May 8, 2024, after a long battle with dementia. Born on September 1,
1951, in Washington, DC, she was raised in Bethesda, MD by her loving parents, the
late Dr. William Woodrow and Rosemary Muriel (Conners) Stanbro.
Ginny was a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She was known for her
giving nature, quiet soul, and great sense of humor. Settling in Columbia, MD in 1980 to
be closer to family, Ginny dedicated her life to raising her daughters, Christine Marie
and Kimberly Ann. Ginny always displayed immense bravery and strength in adversity,
a quality she proudly instilled in her daughters.
After earning her Bachelor of Arts degree from University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith
School of Business while raising two young daughters, Ginny led a successful career in
the insurance industry, receiving many awards and recognitions for her contributions.
She retired at the age of 62 from Zurich NA, where she worked as a Business Analyst.
After retiring, Ginny explored her more adventurous side, traveling with friends to Italy,
Ireland, and National Parks out west. In her free time, Ginny enjoyed walking around the
lake with friends, eating out, dancing, going to plays, arts and crafts, volunteering, and,
most of all, spending time with her granddaughters, Makena and Harper.
Ginny is survived by her daughters, Kimberly Perillo and Christine Proctor;
granddaughters, Makena and Harper Perillo; sons-in-law, Jason Perillo and Bernardo
Mesa; nieces, Jennifer (and her husband Mark), Elizabeth, Sarah (and her husband
Colin), and Donna; nephews, Patrick, Jason (and his wife Diana), and William (and his
partner Casey); brother-in-law James Matthews, Sr.; sister-in-law Helen Stanbro;
and grandnieces and nephew Evelyn, Allison, Emily, Nicole, Julie, and Forrest.
Ginny was preceded in death by her siblings, Mary Ann Matthews, Carol Jean Stanbro,
and Dr. William David Stanbro, and her nephew James Matthews, Jr.
The memorial gathering to celebrate Ginny's life will take place on June 3rd, from 5 PM
to 7 PM, with a brief service scheduled for 6:30 PM, at Hardesty Funeral Home 12
Ridgely Ave., Annapolis, MD 21401. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to St. Jude's Children's
Hospital.
