Virginia Puckett

FRANKFORT, KY - Virginia Puckett, 86, passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2024 in Frankfort, Kentucky. Virginia was born in Muncie, IN on September 26, 1938. Virginia was the daughter of Robert and Ruth (Johnson) Beekman. She was also the oldest of five children.
Virginia attended Yorktown schools and lived there for most of her life. She became an enduring presence in her hometown, working as a school bus driver for 30 years and dedicating 33 years to the school system. Her warmth and kindness touched countless lives on her daily routes, and she was cherished by the children and families she she served.
Virginia's commitment to her community was unwavering. She was a devoted member of the Yorktown Lioness Club. Her faith also played a central role in her life; she was a long-standing member of the Yorktown Methodist Church, where she served as Treasurer for seven years. She moved to Heritage Retired Village in 2002 and held the offices of President and Treasurer. In 2015 she moved to Versailles, KY.
Virginia will be remembered for her steadfast service, compassionate heart, and genuine love for those around her. Her memory lives in the many communities she enriched with generosity and kindness.
Surviving is her son Richard Hannon (Kim) of Evans, GA, daughter Vicki Lovins (Lee) of Versailles, KY, and sister Marty Biggs (Larry) of Lafayette, IN. In addition, she is survived by her six grandchildren: Somer, Shannon, Autumn, Melissa, Sabina, Kasi, and eleven great-grandchildren.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jimmie Lee Puckett, and her siblings, Ruth Anne Dant, Betty Jean Ball, and Bruce Beekman. In place of flowers, donations should be made to the American Lung Association in memory of Mrs. Virginia Puckett.
Funeral services will be held at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel, at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, October 30, 2024. Friends and Family may call from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM. Entombment will take place following service at Elm Ridge Cemetery.
