Virginia Pauline McWaters Rape, 86, of Griffin, died Sunday, August 3, 2025, at Wellstar Spalding Regional Hospital. Born in McDonough, October 23, 1938, she was a daughter of the late Elbert John McWaters and Maude Gertrude Chumley McWaters. Ms. Rape formerly worked for Best Manufacturing for many years and retired from Griffin First United Methodist Church Weekday Kindergarten in 2014. She was a faithful member of Sharon Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and worked in several different capacities throughout the church. Ms. Rape was the last surviving member of her immediate family having been preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. She was also preceded in death by a son, John Daniel Rape. Survivors include daughters, Gina Fraley and fiancée, Troy Gooden of Griffin, Rhonda Rape, also of Griffin, Trellis Gillihan and husband Harvey of Concord and Denise Whitman and husband Tim of Jackson; grandchildren, Jeremy, Jennifer, Kevin, Cody, Nicholas, Lora and Baleigh; numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Virginia Pauline McWaters Rape will be conducted Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Haisten McCullough Funeral Home with Craig Gordy officiating. Burial will follow in Westwood Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1:00 PM until the service hour at the funeral home.
