Virginia Elaine Rountree Hill of Atlanta, GA, age 91, devoted Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother passed away peacefully on April 13, 2025.
Virginia was born in Brooklyn, NY on March 31, 1934. She is preceded in death by her parents, Mildred Elaine Strang Rountree and Robert Richard Rountree Sr., brother, Robert Richard Rountree Jr., and sister, Caroline Edith Rountree.
She graduated from Garden City High School, class of 1952. While attending Alfred University School of Nursing she married David C. Hill Sr. October 1953 in Bath, New York. After moving to Plantation, Florida, Virginia received her R.N. degree at Broward Jr. Collage, class of 1971. During her Nursing career, Virginia was Charge Nurse of Pediatrics at Plantation General Hospital, Counselor and R.N. in the Addictive Diseases Unit at Charter Peachford Hospital in Atlanta, where she received recognition for her family and couples therapy classes and aftercare program. Virginia worked as Charge Nurse for the American Red Cross on their Blood Mobiles and at Restore Rehab. After retirement, she was employed by Sam and Vanessa Fleming and "Grammy" babysat their sons, Ryan and Kyle for 14 years. As Kyle says, "We adopted Ms. Virginia as our Nanny Family Grammy."
Virginia had many hobbies, but her specialty was creating stained glass angels. She loved Psalm 91:11, "For He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways" and shared this verse and her angels with many friends over the years. Virginia loved to crochet, knit, sew, needlepoint, crewel, and photography. Her favorite hobby was gardening and was taught by the all time best gardener, her Dad. Virginia enjoyed walking 2-3 miles most days. She completed the Susan G. Koman 3 Day 60 mile walk.
She is survived by her children, Linda Busfield (Charlie), Susan Turner, David C. Hill Jr. (Susan), and Elizabeth Hall (Kenneth); grandchildren, Andrea Turner Haran (Matt), Elyse Hall Panjic (Andrew), Kevin Hall (Charne'), and Jonathan Hill (Anna); great grandchildren, Lucas Hill, June Panjic, Harber and Fletcher Hall, and Lilli Haran.
A Memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1826 Killian Hill Road SW, Lilburn, GA 30047, with a visitation from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, prior to the service.
