Virginia Carmella Savelli, age 100, passed away peacefully the early morning of Jan. 1, 2025, at the Avalon Care Center.
Born April 16, 1924, in Lowellville, OH, she was the daughter of the late James and Pasqualine (Rossi) Donatelli.
She married her beloved husband, Fudi Savelli, who preceded her in death in 1991.
Virginia was part owner of the Triangle Bar from 1957-1977, where she was affectionately known as 'Shorty', a loving name given to her by her loyal patrons. Grandma Shorty, or Aunt Jeanie as she was known, loved cooking and baking, specializing in Italian food and cookies. She will always be remembered as a loving and nurturing woman who enjoyed feeding her family and guests making sure that no one left her home hungry. Virginia was a faithful volunteer at the Villa Maria for over 10 years. She was also a member of St. Joseph's Church, St. Joseph's Ladies Guild and the ISDA – Italian Sons and Daughters Association.
Survivors include her devoted son, Fred (Lissa) Savelli of Hermitage, PA; one granddaughter, Danielle Savelli of Hermitage, PA; her beloved great-grand-puppy, Khloe; a sister-in-law, Becky Donatelli of Arizona; and many loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Virginia was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Fasano and Antoinette DePinto, and three brothers, Jerome, Daniel and Anthony Donatelli.
Visitation will be held on Sat. Jan. 4th from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.
A blessing service will take place immediately following visitation at the funeral home at 1:00 PM with Deacon Dan Roberts.
Burial will be alongside her husband at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
