Virginia (Genny) Louise Stires, 77, of Stoutsville passed away on Friday, August 29, 2025 surrounded by her family. She was born on November 20, 1947 to the late William and Emma (Roese) Griffis, in Columbus, Ohio. Genny retired from the Columbus Dispatch after many years working as a Journeyman Mailer.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, John W. “Bill” Stires, brother Raymond Baise, sister Patricia Landers, and grandson-in-law Preston Harding.

Genny is survived by her daughters, Kari Jo Stires (Randy Wood) and Polly Marie (Scott) Smith; grandchildren, Brandi Parsley (Cody Moss), Jennifer (James) McKenzie, Jesse (Jenna) Wood, Codi Smith, Lindsey (Taylor) Whitesed, and Brittany Smith; great grandchildren, Brady, Will, and Seth Harding, Wyatt and Wren McKenzie, Ivy and Sage Wood, Kyler Reid, Carter Hiser, Paislee Murphy, and Maddox Whitesed; numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held at 11am on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at Oliver-Cheek Funeral Home, 420 W. Main St, Ashville. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 5, from 6-8pm.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Lifeline of Ohio.
