Virginia Louise Urbanek, "Ginny", 69, of Beecher City, Illinois, passed away November 16, 2025.

Born in Munster, IN and raised in Calumet City, IL Ginny graduated from Seton Academy in South Holland, IL and worked as an emergency dispatcher for Calumet City for two decades.

In retirement, she moved to Beecher City with her husband, Skip, to enjoy the quieter lifestyle together with their beloved dogs. Ginny was a strong woman, sassy, and a fierce and loyal friend to many. She loved to cook, entertain friends and family, and be outdoors. She left knowing that her dogs, Jaxson, Toby, and Anna would continue to be loved and cared for by trusted friends and family, as she and Skip were well-known as avid dog lovers.

Ginny is survived by her children: Melissa (Thomas "T.J." Olson) Schweitzer of Chicago, Kimberly (Raj Cornelious) Urbanek of Bolingbrook, IL, and Kevin (Kara) Urbanek of Lowell, IN.

She was the adoring grandmother ("Gigi") of Kailana, Kaleigh, Karyssa, and Kasen Urbanek.

Preceded in death by beloved spouse Henry J. "Skip" Urbanek and parents Joseph Anthony Mahala and Virginia Elizabeth Mahala (nee Kraus).

An appropriate celebration of life is being planned for Springtime, 2026, followed by entombment of cremated remains at Holy Cross Cemetery in Calumet City.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to It's a Pittie Rescue: (708) 792-3311 or http://rescueapittie.org/.
