Virginia Ann (Davis) Webber, 73, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, February 28, 2025, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas. She was born on December 17, 1951, in Garden City, Kansas, to Doris Jean (Snyder) and John Earl Davis.
Virginia grew up in Sublette and graduated from Sublette High School in 1969. In high school, she was a cheerleader, proudly cheering alongside her big sister, Carolyn. She continued her education at Garden City Community College, where she also cheered and was honored as Football Homecoming Queen. In 1972, she earned her bachelor's degree from Kansas State University before returning home to marry her high school classmate, Tim Charles Webber. They were married on December 1, 1973, at the Sublette Christian Church, and together they built a life and raised their family in Haskell County, Kansas.
Virginia was a dedicated and hardworking woman. As a child, she worked alongside her father on the farm, developing a strong work ethic that she carried throughout her life. She was raised in the Sublette United Methodist Church, where she developed a strong faith that carried her throughout her life. Later, she continued her passion for farming alongside her husband and sons, forming a hardworking team committed to their land and livelihood.
She had a deep love for horses and was a proud member of the American Quarter Horse Association, the Appaloosa Horse Club, the Palomino Horse Breeders of America, and the American Ranch Horse Association. She bred and trained horses, winning several awards, including honors at the Kansas State Fair with her horse, Impressive Shannon, and earning a Reserve World Champion title with Stimulation. Her love of horses was something she passed on to her grandchildren.
In addition to her love of horses, Virginia was a dedicated bowler and enjoyed being on a team with her mother, Doris Jean, and her sister, Carolyn. Together, they enjoyed traveling across the country-from Seattle to Miami-competing and often winning against tough opponents.
She also played women's town team softball until the age of 39. A talented pitcher, she was known for her ability to switch between fast and slow pitches with ease.
Virginia was a member of the Sublette Christian Church, where her faith was an important part of her life. She was also involved in her community, serving on the Sublette Recreation Board and as a member of the Kansas Farm Bureau Association.
Virginia was known for speaking her mind and never holding back her opinion, but she also had a warm heart and a smile for everyone she met. She was incredibly proud of her children and grandchildren, always showing up to support them at school events. Whether it was a competition, or performance, she never missed an opportunity to cheer them on. She was an incredible booster, known for her unwavering encouragement and enthusiastic support from the stands. Even after the heartbreaking loss of her son, Chase Mitchel Webber, in 2006, Virginia remained a pillar of strength-always kind, generous, and deeply devoted to her family.
She is survived by her husband, Tim Webber of
Sublette, KS; her sons, Grant Webber and his wife, Rhesa, and Eric Webber and LaShaune Stevens, both of
Sublette, KS; grandchildren, Brecken Webber of Hays, KS, Clarysa Webber of Alva, OK, Drake Webber, and Ethan Webber, both of
