Mrs. Virna Mae was born January 14, 1930 to the late Earl and Bertha Gregory and was the sixth of eight children. She had seven siblings to proceed her in death; Dora, Nehemiah, Will, Ella B., Richard, Jesse, and Ollie; one grandson Charlie Kurns, Jr.; one great-grandson, J'Varis Bankhead; one God-daughter, Lisa Haynes; and one Godson, James Brown.
Virna Mae was united in holy matrimony to the late Willie D. Kurns. Virna confessed to Jesus Christ at an early age where she became a loyal and active member of the Mt. Calvary M.B. Church. She served as Usher Board President and on the Mother Board.
Virna Mae was employed with Tylon Manufacturing Company for many years. Upon retirement she stayed home and cooked her famous sweet potato pies which everyone loved.
Virna Mae leaves to cherish her memories and spirit of her presence in the heart of her family; four children, James Kerns of Durant, MS, Willie Kurns of Chicago, IL, Charles (Rebecca) Kurns of Matson, IL, and Sandra (John) Banks of Durant, MS; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; special friends, Viola McGee Evans and Shirley Greer; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and family.

DATE OF SERVICE: Saturday 10/08/2022 at 11:00 a.m.
INTERMENT: Saron Cemetery, Durant, MS
