It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Vivian Lee Hamilton, a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who graced this world with her radiant presence from October 1, 1947, until her departure on June 6, 2025, in her beloved Nashville, Tennessee. Born to Johnny and Iona Thomas, Vivian imbued warmth and love in everything she touched, and her legacy continues through those whose lives she enriched.
Vivian pursued a flourishing career, dedicating many years to banking, legal affairs, and business administration. Yet, her accomplishments extended far beyond her professional life. She was a vibrant soul with a glowing personality, known for her boundless affection for those she loved deeply, particularly her son, Jody Hamilton, and granddaughter, Scarlett Hamilton. Her unwavering commitment to family fostered an environment where love flourished, and her kindness rippled through all her relationships.
As an active member of Glen Leven Presbyterian Church for over 45 years, Vivian was not only a devoted congregant but also an inspiring presence in the choir, using her captivating voice to worship and connect with her church family. Her contributions included numerous mission trips to Mexico, where she dedicated herself to building homes for those in need, exemplifying her belief in service and compassion.
Vivian’s passions were diverse and reflective of her fervent spirit; she reveled in the beauty of nature, enjoyed long walks, cherished moments spent gardening, and especially adored the beach and the ocean. Tennis was another of her lifelong enjoyments, where she experienced both camaraderie and the joy of an active lifestyle.
She is survived by her beloved son, Jody Hamilton (Missy), her treasured granddaughter, Scarlett Hamilton, her devoted siblings, John Thomas (Virginia), Janice Thomas Frazer, and Virginia Marie Spears (Dale), along with several cherished nieces and nephews. Each of them carries forward her spirit, embodying the lessons of love, generosity, and zest for life that she imparted.
Vivian joins her departed family members, including her parents, Johnny and Iona Thomas, and her brother, Frank Thomas, in eternal rest, where they continue their bond with her.
A visitation will be held in her honor on June 13, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a funeral service commencing at 12:00 PM at Glen Leven Presbyterian Church, located at 3906 Franklin Pike, Nashville, TN 37204. Interment will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery.
As we reflect upon the life of Vivian Lee Hamilton, we are reminded of the indelible mark she left on all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her light will continue to shine through the stories and memories cherished by her family and friends, a testament to a life well-lived and a heart so generously given.
