Voyt Gregory, of Holly Pond, Alabama, passed away on May 14, 2025, at the age of 76. Mr. Gregory was born on December 25, 1948, in Cullman County, Alabama, to the late Willard and Imogene Lawrence Gregory.
Voyt is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joyce Freeman Gregory; son, Tracy Gregory; and sisters, Judy Ramey and Brenda Reasonover.
Those left to cherish the memory of Mr. Gregory includes his children, Dexter Gregory (Anita), and Wendy Bagwell (Larry); brothers, Marvin Gregory, Paul Gregory, Kenny Gregory, Junior Gregory, and Charles Gregory; sister, Juanita Jones; grandchildren, Robert Shoemake, Jennifer Shoemake, Kayla Gregory, and Patrick Bentley; great-grandchildren, Ronald Nunnelley, Braxton Lewis, Jazmine Shoemake, and Brooklynn Shoemake; brother-in-law, Jerry Freeman; and his little dog, Abby.
Mr. Gregory was an over-the-road truck driver for over fifty years and was known to most by his handle, Pop a Top. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved to deep sea fish, camp, and spend time on the beach. He and his late wife of fifty years, Joyce, loved spending time with their family and had a close relationship with their children. “Pawpaw Went” also loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Voyt leaves behind a legacy of hard work, love, and family that will be passed down for generations to come.
Friends are invited to join the family for a time of visitation on Monday, May 19, 2025, from 11:00 o’clock a.m. until services begin at 1:00 o’clock p.m. All services will be held in the Holly Pond Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Earl Harper officiating. Burial will follow services in Etha Cemetery where Mr. Gregory will be laid to rest alongside his wife, Joyce. Ronald Nunnelley, Braxton Lewis, Kenny Gregory, Marvin Gregory, Delton Gregory, Jeff Jones, and Johnathan Jones will serve as pallbearers.
