W. Earl Aldridge, 77, of Charlotte, passed away September 15, 2022. Born October 20, 1944 in Marshville, NC, he was the son of the late Henry Lee Aldridge Jr. "JR" and Louise Mullis Aldridge. He was a veteran of the US Army and retired as the Head of IT at The University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He held bachelor's degrees in Math and Computer Science from Wingate University and UNCC respectively.
A connoisseur of bad Dad jokes, he loved to make people laugh. He also loved to play golf and would take every opportunity to visit the golf course. A skilled woodworker, he made countless treasures for his family and friends, everything from rocking chairs and horses to cradles and porch swings. He will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his partner of 18 year and recent bride, Elizabeth Joka; sons, Bradley Aldridge (Donna) of Monroe, and Marcus Aldridge (Lori) of Indian Trail; siblings, Phyllis Love of Wingate, Janet Dunlap (Butch) of Monroe, and Don Aldridge of Salisbury; as well as 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
His funeral will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, September 19, 2022 in the Winston Chapel at Holland Funeral Service with Rev. Roy Helms officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00PM.
Holland Funeral Service is serving the Aldridge family.
