Wade Franklin "Outlaw" Baker, born on November 22, 1954, in Big Rock, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on September 10,2024, at his residence in Yeaddiss, Kentucky. He was a dedicated coal miner, contributing thirty years of hard work to Blue Diamond Mining, followed by fifteen years as a coal truck driver. Wade was known not only for his work ethic but also for the warmth and kindness he showed to everyone around him.
Outside of his professional life, Wade found great joy in a variety of hobbies and interests. He loved fishing and gardening, making every cookout with family and friends an opportunity to create cherished memories. His greatest pleasure came from being an integral part of his family’s lives; he fostered deep connections that will resonate through the generations to come.
A proud member of the Church of Christ, Wade was devoted to his faith throughout his life. His sense of community and fellowship was evident in all of his interactions, and his presence will be greatly missed by those who had the honor of knowing him.
Wade is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Angela Joseph Baker; his cherished son, Shawn Baker (Jenn); his cherished daughter, Mary Baker (Ben Turner); and two brothers, Ray Baker (Arlene) and Earnest Baker. He also leaves behind six sisters—Faye Hendrix, Irene Caldwell, Christine Howard, Delphia Boggs, Lexine Hicks, and Alice Boggs; five treasured grandchildren—Shawnna Rose Baker, Dawson Baker, Taylor Joseph, Hunter Napier, and Destiny Chappell; three treasured great-grandchildren—Zoe Thompson, Sophie Morgan, and Brantley Morgan; and a very special nephew, Robert Howard. Additionally, he is remembered by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Wade was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Emra Baker and Mary Griffith Baker; three brothers—Arb Holbrook, Alfred Holbrook, and Arvel Baker; as well as two special nephews, Matthew Baker and Nathan Baker. His legacy of love, hard work, and devotion to family will remain in the hearts and memories of all who knew and loved him.
Funeral Service: Saturday, Sept. 14, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home, Hyden, Kentucky
Ministers: Rev. Billy Joe Lewis and Rev. Michael Joseph
Interment: Baker Family Cemetery (Big Rock Road), Yeaddiss, Kentucky
Pallbearers: Ben Turner, Shawn Baker, Robert Howard, Josh Hendrix, Jimmy Joseph and Jeremiah Caldwell
Visitation: Friday, Sept. 13, 2024 at 6:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home Chapel
