Wade Griffin Obituary

Visit the Ridge Funeral Home & Cremation Service website to view the full obituary.

Wade Hampton Griffin, 38, of Asheboro, North Carolina went to be with the Lord on December 8, 2025.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 14, 2026, at First Baptist Church of Asheboro with Pastor Steven Owen officiating. Following the service, food will be provided in the Christian Life Center.

He was born on March 15, 1987 in Fairfax, Virginia. He graduated from Asheboro High School in 2006.

Wade was a lifelong Christian and was saved in Charlotte on September 26, 1996 at a Billy Graham Crusade. Ironically, a former FBI associate of his father led him to the Lord on that day.

Wade was a longtime employee at Greensboro Auto Auction. He became proficient at many aspects of the business. Mr. Green and Patrick Hill were Wade‘s mentors as well as loyal friends. Doug Parrish was the catalyst to Wade obtaining employment at the auction. The family is deeply appreciative of these fine outstanding men for taking Wade “under their wing”. Wade was always willing to go the extra mile at work. Many times when a supervisor would ask him to do a job, he would often say no, then he would proficiently complete the task.

Wade was an avid reader and a lifetime learner. He was interested in all genres of literature from CS Lewis to Elmore Leonard. His vocabulary was immense as well as his knowledge base in music, movies, history, current events, and general trivia.

Wade‘s favorite music band was The Avett Brothers from Concord, North Carolina. He attended every New Year’s Eve concert in North Carolina. One of his favorite farewell lines to his friends was “If you have love in your heart, let it show while you can.”

Wade had a tremendous love for Batman. He had a vast collection of Batman memorabilia. The Dark Knight was his favorite.

Justified was Wade‘s favorite TV show. To Dave, “We dug coal together. That’s right “.

Wade had a gruff exterior, a brilliant mind, and a heart full of love. To those who knew him, he was extremely loyal, and he loved fiercely. He was very intuitive on people‘s feelings and needs. He was always quick to help others in some form. He would literally give you the shirt off his back, embrace you in a Wade big bear hug, buy you food or give you money. It didn’t matter if he knew you or if you were a stranger. He had a love for people and was very aware of other’s needs.

He would offer advise to many people that was perfect for each situation. Two of his favorite sayings were “I might not know what to do, but I know what Not to do.” And “Don’t cry because I’m gone. Smile because of what we shared.”.

Wade is survived by his parents, Chris and Gail Griffin, his brother, John Griffin (Amanda) and his nephew, Brantley Griffin, whom he loved with all of his heart. Additionally, he is survived by his maternal grandmother, Wilma Bergman; Aunt Valerie Thompson (Andy); Uncle Jerry Mays (Bobbie); Aunt Sandy Stewart ( Mike); Uncle John Griffin, and many cousins that he treasured and adored.

Wade was proceeded in death by his paternal grandparents, John and Clara Griffin, and his paternal grandfather, Gerald F. Mays Sr.

A visitation will be held at First Baptist Church of Asheboro from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church - Benevolence fund, 133 North Church Street, Asheboro, NC, 27203; or to the charity of your choice.
