Wade Harden McKee, age 80, of Blountsville, passed away peacefully at home January 14, 2026. He was born in Pinson, Alabama, on February 5, 1945, to Onas Sumpter McKee and Jessie Lou Harden McKee. He was the sixth of seven boys.
Wade is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Onas Jr. and Harold.
Mr. McKee is survived by his wife of almost sixty-one years, Patricia Morrow McKee; children, Rhonda, Brian (Angela), and Daniel (Angel); his brothers, Bobby (Jo), Neal, Charles (Gwen), and Joel; and father-in-law, William Morrow. He was blessed with ten grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.
A faithful southern Baptist that grew up in Pinson, Alabama, Wade attended Pinson Rock School and graduated from Hewitt Trussville High School. He was a mechanical engineer who worked for Crysler Corporation Space division, went on to work for Connor Steel, then SMI. After retiring from the steel industry, he then went on to work for Austin Powder.
Wade enjoyed many hobbies including being a pilot, metal fabrication, woodworking, and farming.
Friends are invited to join the McKee family for a time of visitation on Saturday, January 17, 2026, in the Holly Pond Funeral Home Chapel, from 12 noon until 2:00 p.m. Funeral services for Mr. McKee will follow visitation, beginning at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor Randy Hale officiating. Wade will be laid to rest in Austin Creek Cemetery where his grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, Wade’s wishes were that donations be made in his memory to the Blount County Animal Shelter or to The Big Oak Ranch.
