Wade Messer

Wade Messer, age 62, of Canton, North Carolina, passed away unexpectedly on April 16, 2025. Born on December 10, 1962, Wade was the beloved son of the late Wade and Shirley Messer.
Wade lived a life rooted in hard work, family, and a deep love for the outdoors. A true jack of all trades, he worked as a painter, pipe fitter, and in construction, always willing to take on whatever job needed doing and doing it well. When he wasn't working, Wade could be found hunting, fishing, or watching NASCAR, enjoying the simple things that brought him peace.
He was a devoted husband to Tina Sanmartino Messer and a proud father to his son, Jeremy Messer. Whether cheering Jeremy on at the ballfield or supporting his music career, Wade never missed a moment. But the role he was most proud of was being "Grandpa" to his beloved granddaughter, Oaklyn Messer-she was the light of his life and brought him endless joy.
Wade also shared a meaningful and enduring friendship with his ex-wife, Carla Bell Messer. Though their marriage ended, their love and respect for one another never did. Together, they co-parented Jeremy with unwavering devotion and remained a constant support in each other's lives. She always held a special place in Wade's heart.
He was a loyal brother, a dependable uncle, and a caring friend. Wade is survived by his wife, Tina; son, Jeremy (Lora); and granddaughter, Oaklyn. He is also survived by his sisters: Sharon Messer Free (Roger), Cheryl Messer Fulbright (Tim), and Camille Quinn; his brother, Joey Walker (Mary Helen, Doug Messer; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, David Messer.
Those who knew Wade will remember him for his steady presence, quiet strength, and the way he always put family first. His legacy lives on in the stories we share, the love we carry, and the values he passed down.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Crawford / Ray Funeral Home in Canton, NC, followed immediately by a short service to honor Wade's life.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to spend time outdoors, help someone in need, or simply cherish a moment with loved ones-just as Wade always did.
