Wade Young Milam II, a beloved son, father, brother, and friend, was born on August 10, 1977, in
Charlotte, North Carolina, and passed away on January 17, 2026, at the age of 48, in
Shallotte, North Carolina.
Wade's journey through life was filled with warmth, kindness, and an unyielding passion for finding beauty in the world around him. He attended Central Piedmont Community College, and built a vibrant career in the restaurant industry, working as both a bartender and a cook. Through these roles, he shared not only meals but also moments that enriched the lives of those around him.
A man of simple joys, Wade found immense happiness spending time with his son, Jaxon Milam, and Marley Girl, his cherished canine companion. Together, they shared countless adventures and quiet moments of reflection. Wade was also an avid gardener and antiquing enthusiast who delighted in discovering the stories behind hidden treasures. Whether walking in the park or cultivating his garden, he embraced every opportunity to enjoy life's offerings.
Wade will be fondly remembered for his remarkable ability to see the best in everyone. His open heart and generous spirit spread love wherever he went, embodied in his signature phrase, "Right on." Wade loved his family deeply and was always eager to uncover intriguing facts about the world, which he shared with infectious enthusiasm.
Wade's faith was an important aspect of his life, and he was a cherished member of First Baptist Church of Shallotte. He is preceded in death by his father, Wade Young Milam and mother Cynthia Prine Milam, who sadly passed away 9 days later on January 26th 2026.
He leaves behind a loving family who will continue to celebrate his legacy: his two sisters, Erin Jean Milam and her spouse Damion Hancock of Wilmington, NC, and Caitrin Ann Milam of
Ocean Isle Beach, NC; and his beloved son, Jaxon Milam, and his mom Becca Marie Hilt of West Virginia. His nephew, Caidon Joel Wescott; his aunt Hannah and uncle JB (who sadly passed away), uncle Ike and aunt Cindy, and aunt Joanne and uncle Danny. Wade is also survived by his cousins Kimberly, Michelle, Matt, Jacob, Joseph, Charity, Madison and their spouses, and special friends who were touched by his warmth and humor.
A celebration of Wade's life will be held on April 25, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Shallotte, where he will be honored alongside his beloved mother, Cynthia Prine Milam.
Though Wade has left this earthly realm, his spirit remains alive in the hearts of all who knew him. His legacy of love and positivity will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to share in his journey.
