Wade Garland Nehring was born July 23, 1963 to Garland and Karen (Arends) Nehring in
Storm Lake, Iowa. He was baptized on August 4, 1963. Wade grew up on the farm helping his dad, grandpa and uncles farm and raise livestock. This is where his love for family and farming began. Wade was confirmed in his faith on April 30, 1978, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Newell where he remained a lifelong member. He attended Newell-Providence School prior to graduating in May 1982.
Wade met Cheri (Stephan) Nehring through the days of her grandparents having lunch wagon at the sale barn in Storm Lake. Later in high school the couple continued to grow their friendship and love as they spent time down by the lake in Storm Lake. The couple courted each other for three and a half years before they united in marriage on July 9, 1983. To this union they were blessed with one son, Justin.
Wade grew up learning from his dad how to farm and raise cattle. At the young age of twelve, Wade's father passed away and his love for farming grew from that year on. Wade started farming with his grandfather and his uncles where they spent time teaching him all they knew about farming. The farming operation consisted of row crops, forage crops and livestock. This was also how Wade developed a love for Allis-Chalmers tractors. In school, Wade was involved in 4-H, Boy Scouts, church, and youth group. As Wade grew into a young man, he quickly knew that farming was going to be something that he pursued as a profession because it didn't seem that it was work. It was what Wade knew and loved. After Wade and Cheri married, they continued to live in the family farmhouse; where they farmed and raised livestock. After Justin was born and he was old enough to go with Wade, Justin was everywhere on the farm that Wade was. Wade and Cheri grew the farming operation and expanded the operation which included trucking, raising cattle, hogs, sheep, chickens and in the 1990's they started custom raising hogs. Other jobs that Wade held while farming were working at Bargloff's in Storm Lake, Don's Farm Supply, Newell Coop, IBP, and Holmstrom Electric. Wade drove truck for several years, then Wade and Cheri started Nehring Trucking in 2022. This was another way that Wade and Justin could work with each other and grow a family business. This was always a dream of Wade's to own a family business, where he could spend time with his family every day.
Wade was involved in his community, served as a Commissioner for Buena Vista County Soil & Water Conservation District, enjoyed 19 years of going to the races to watch his son Justin race, spending time with his grandsons Camden and Stryker. These grandsons were involved in many things. Camden has been racing for two years with Wade helping and supporting him along the way. Stryker has been involved in sports and enjoying learning the trade of farming. Both boys have been learning how to drive tractors, cut hay, rake, and running chase carts. Teaching them to be on the farm around equipment and the operation, passing knowledge to the next farming generation has been rewarding while they created memories. These interests undoubtable and quickly became passions of Wade. Wade loved to take his Allis-Chalmers Tractors to tractor shows; especially the Albert City Thresherman's when they featured Allis-Chalmers tractors. In addition to spending time with his family, Wade enjoyed camping, traveling, karaoke, following Iowa State University Athletics, the Kansas City Chiefs, St. Louis Cardinals, attending the races, going to the Boone Nationals and having coffee with friends. Wade had a hidden talent for singing and his singing was truly amazing to hear if you were ever so fortunate to hear him.
Wade was a husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, and a friend to many. When someone would see Wade, you would almost always see Cheri and/or Justin. They are a close family, and family was everything to Wade.
